building strong communities. OUR OPENING SFC Civil Constructors, a
division of Journey Group is seeking a full-time Assistant
Superintendent . In this role, you'll work on projects with
guidance from experienced Superintendents while coordinating field
employees to improve safety, reliability, quality, and production.
You will help support systems and processes that align and optimize
the division's operations to deliver value to customers. The
position also focuses on developing team skills, fostering employee
engagement, and driving problem resolution. Additionally, you'll
contribute to building accountability and ownership across the
team. what would you do as an assistant SUPERINTENDENT? Take on
increasing responsibility for daily civil construction operations
while observing and learning from experienced team members. Assist
with project planning, including cost analysis, budgeting,
scheduling, and coordination of labor, materials, and equipment.
Organize and maintain an efficient job site, including material
storage, equipment placement, parking, and daily activity
reporting. Monitor field productivity and support compliance with
safety, best management practices, erosion control, and required
inspections. Communicate effectively with Superintendents, Project
Managers, owners, designers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders
to resolve construction conflicts. Support a strong safety culture
through toolbox talks, safety meetings, and observations while
maintaining confidentiality in all operations. EXPERIENCE AND
EDUCATION REQUIRED Technical education or and/or 3 years' work
experience is required; or the combination of education to meet the
essential job functions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES NEEDED
Ability to read plans/specs and follow OSHA?required safe work
practices. Strong heavy?equipment knowledge and safe, efficient
work coordination. Proficient with Microsoft Office and
computer-based reporting/maintenance systems. Strong communication,
organization, leadership, and team-building skills. Independent
problem-solving, professionalism, and ability to manage multiple
deadlines. Valid driver's license required; must be 18 to work in a
construction environment. Ability to travel in and around South
Dakota! WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to
consistently move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly
on job sites with unfinished and uneven surfaces. Must be able to
inspect details at close range, interact, communicate, and exchange
accurate information consistently. Consistently works in outdoor
weather conditions around 8-12 hours a day. Must be able to retain
a stationary position for extended periods of time occasionally
depending on the task. Must be able to transfer materials ranging
from the ground to overhead consistently. Must be able to move
material up to 50 lbs. frequently. Must be able to safely use hand
