Please note: All individuals entering our facilities are required to complete a self-health check, wear a mask and follow all posted guidelines.What a Tool Room Technician contributes to Cardinal HealthSets up and operates a variety of machine tools to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.AccountabilitiesClean, evaluate, maintain, repair, and convert injection molds.Assist in maintaining the spare part inventories used for mold repair and maintenance.Work with outside tool shops and vendors when necessary to schedule and track tool repairs and preventive maintenance.Contribute suggestions to improve mold efficiency and reduce maintenance costsComplete projects to schedule as assigned by the Tool Room Lead / SupervisorWork safely and maintain molds and equipment to operate as designedBasic knowledge of manifold systems.Close tool room work orders when completed.Participate in continuous education / training to improve tooling knowledge and skills.Interpret mechanical drawings and wiring schematics.Maintain service records in compliance with FDA & ISO standards.Determine root cause when addressing major tool damage / failure. Report findings to the Tool Room Lead.Perform mold preventive maintenance as scheduled to achieve 100% on-time completionRespond to manufacturing demands appropriately. Request direction when priorities conflict.Record service activities in the tooling maintenance daily log.Support the business decisions of the Senior Management TeamPossess sufficient organizational skills to maintain a clean and structured tooling department.Initiate and participate in continuous improvement plans.Perform miscellaneous duties, within the scope of reason, as directed.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED preferred2-4 years of experience in manufacturing with plastic injection molding preferredAssociates Degree in Technology or Industrial Certification preferredAbility to reach mechanical blueprints, work with a variety of tool designs (hot runners, valve gates and hydraulics)Familiarity with FDA Quality Regulations; Microsoft Office and network-based computer skillsAbility to lift 50lbsWhat is expected of you and others at this levelApplies knowledge and company policies to complete a variety of tasksDemonstrates a working knowledge of jobs outside area of responsibilityMaintains appropriate licenses, training and certificationsWorks on assignments that are moderately difficult requiring judgment in resolving issuesMay assist in recommendation of processes on new assignmentsAdheres to all quality guidelinesWorks with limited supervision.
