Position Summary: Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is accountable for the Maintenance Department at the Sioux City, Iowa Sabre Galvanizing Facility including all actions concerning Manufacturing, Safety, Productivity, and Quality Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Gives daily work assignments to personnel within the Maintenance Department. Makes decisions regarding work priorities based on published schedules and conversations with department manager, taking into account his/her knowledge of assigned personnel, individual skills, and existing personnel vacancies. * Continuously monitors progress on daily work schedules to assure that satisfactory progress is being made. * Maintains files and records of employee attendance and performance. Provides daily reports of time and attendance for payroll purposes. * Based on personal observation and existing reporting systems, evaluates performance of all employees in terms of safety, quality, productivity and attendance. Initiates training and/or corrective action to correct deficiencies. * Maintains authorized staffing levels. When vacancies occur, initiates appropriate documents to get positions filled through internal postings and/or outside hiring. Interviews candidates and, within prescribed guidelines, selects candidate recommended for each position. * Communicates regularly with the other department supervisors in person and by telephone. Attends meetings to exchange information with other supervisors, managers and other employees. Conducts meetings within his/her department and shift to communicate with subordinates in a group setting. * Communicates one-on-one with subordinates to keep them informed of their progress and/or opportunities for improvement. * Effectively use, understand, and monitor production jobs in Epicor/Vantage business system. * This position reports to the Maintenance Manager. * The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of all equipment and processes in the Sioux City Facility. * The incumbent should have acquired knowledge of planning, organizing, controlling, coordinating and directing manufacturing personnel. The incumbent must possess a high level of supervisory capability, which insures leadership and motivation of subordinates to attain high standards of safety, quality and productivity. The incumbent must react to change in a timely and organized manner. The incumbent must evaluate and weigh alternatives, establish appropriate priorities and formulate sound decisions affecting all phases of the operation. * The incumbent must be able to foster harmonious relations within his/her own shift and between shifts. The incumbent is accountable for safety, productivity, quality, exercising cost control, meeting production schedules, the proper uses of direct and indirect labor, accurate record-keeping and reporting, minimizing scrap and rework costs, training new and existing personnel and communicating with other supervisory and management personnel as well as subordinates. Duties of the position require frequent use of computer terminals and personal computers. * The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge and awareness of the safety issues related to each operation performed within the department and must assure that all employees adhere to safe practices at all times. * The incumbent must have a thorough understanding of the process of ongoing improvement as it relates to the management philosophy of Sabre Galvanizing. * Additional duties as assigned Position Requirements: Education: Two year associates degree Experience: 3 years manufacturing experience (previous work related history Skills & Abilities: * Must be a good leader with effective interpersonal, communications and organizational skills. Able to function independently and also work in a team environment. * Treats people with dignity and respect at all levels. * Math aptitude and ability to thrive in a deadline driven environment. * Current computer skills, including email, Word and Excel. * Ability to develop strong working relationships. * Possesses a high energy level and enthusiasm with the ability to focus on agreed recommendations and results. * Action oriented.
