Location Description

Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.

Join our company and be part of an innovative team that's First in Food. \r\n POSITION SUMMARY: \r\n The FSQ Laboratory Lead ensures the quality and safety of products produced at the Michael Foods facilities in Wakefield, NE by ensuring all products meet food safety and quality requirements and customer specifications prior to release. \r\n JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : \r\n \r\n * Assists in training of all FSQ Chemistry/Process Laboratory personnel. Assists FSQ Laboratory Supervisor in updating training for existing personnel whenever laboratory equipment changes are instituted and/or new procedures are implemented. \r\n * Adhere to safe work practices and ensures that the laboratory is a safe work environment for all personnel. \r\n * Follows GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety \r\n * Assigns work tasks to laboratory personnel. \r\n * Accurate and timely completion of daily paperwork, results spreadsheets for Wakefield and sister facility testing. \r\n * Helps maintains laboratory records. \r\n * Maintains effective working relationship between members of the FSQ Laboratory and other areas. \r\n * Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment on a continual basis to ensure proper testing standards; including calibration and service status of equipment. \r\n * Assists in annual review of methods and updates procedures as needed. \r\n * Assist in ISO 17025 certification for laboratory. \r\n * Assist in developing and maintaining Chemical Hygiene Plan. \r\n * Adhere to all safety polices and procedures. \r\n * Perform other duties as assigned. \r\n

\r\n JOB QUALIFICATIONS : \r\n \r\n * Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and SAP. \r\n * Excellent organizational skills required. \r\n * Ability to work independently. \r\n * Possess knowledge of the following: HACCP Programs, SPC Weight Control Programs, Analytical Test Methods. \r\n * Excellent communication skills: verbal and written. \r\n * Coordinating and leading the work of others. \r\n * Good interpersonal skills, team builder. \r\n * Bilingual English/Spanish (spoken and written) a plus. \r\n

\r\n EDUCATION: \r\n High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. College courses in chemistry preferred. \r\n LANGUAGE SKILLS: \r\n Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization. \r\n MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: \r\n Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. \r\n REASONING ABILITY: \r\n Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. \r\n EXPERIENCE : \r\n Experience in a chemistry laboratory. \r\n
