HCI Construction is a general contractor and design-builder for public, private, and governmental projects throughout the Midwest. Summary
Supervises, leads and coordinates activities of Sub contractors and workers engaged in construction of buildings, highways and other construction projects. Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction based on starting and completion times

Essential Functions

  • Determines staffing requirements for each phase of construction, based on knowledge of available tools and equipment and various building methods.
  • Assembles members of organization (supervisory, clerical, engineering and other workers) at the beginning of a project.
  • Orders procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Works with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances with the workforce.
  • Coordinates with sub-contractors, supervisors, engineering personnel, inspectors and suppliers of materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
  • Inspects work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and that construction schedules are adhered to.
  • Communicate professionally with Architects and engineers.
  • Complete company paperwork as needed.
  • Able to understand smart phones and tablets, including Time Keeping, Emails, documents, submittals, etc.
  • Able to use computer programs such as Word, Excel, Microsoft Office (emails and calendars), etc. with a basic understanding.
  • Able to review and forward Submittals, RFI's, ASI's, Change Orders to engineer or architect.
  • Regularly attend company safety training sessions.
  • Prepares, or receives from subordinates, reports on progress, materials used, cost analysis and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
  • Direct workers concerned with major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations.Competencies

    Supervisory Responsibility
    This position will oversee sub contractors, crews assigned to their specific project. Crews will consist of laborers, apprentice, journeymen, foreman and Field Supervisors.

    Work Environment
    This job performs physically demanding work. May work at great heights or outdoors in all weather conditions. The use Personal Protection Equipment is required.

    Physical Demands
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
    • Able to work 40+ hours per week
    • The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
    • The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects.
    • The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
    • The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
      This is a full-time position (40 hrs./week). Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00a.m. to 4:30p.m. with overtime as needed before/after shifts and on Saturdays.

      Travel
      Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

      Experience
      • 10 years or more experience in a related area preferred.
      • Able to perform job duties with little to no supervision
      • General understanding of construction practices
      • Willingness to put forth extra effort
      • Communication skills both verbal and written
      • Ability to take direction and carry out job duties as neededEducation
        High school diploma or Equivalent.

        Additional Eligibility Qualifications
        Maintains a valid driver's license and be insurable under company insurance provider/program vehicles
