POSITION TITLE: Warehouse MechanicDEPARTMENT: WarehouseREPORTS TO: Building Maintenance ManagerPOSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for maintenance and repair of Warehouse equipment handling equipment, and for building maintenance.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform routine preventative maintenance on mechanical handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, sweepers, etc.)Document records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.Select repair parts and update parts records.Repair mechanical damage and replace defective parts, which may include welding, brazing, and soldering. Repairs are made to mechanical handling equipment, racking, floors, piping, and to other warehouse structural components.Applies mechanical skills and knowledge to troubleshooting and repair of electrical, plumbing, pipe fitting, fabrication, building construction, and other warehouse maintenance/repair situations.Reads and interprets schematics, drawings, and other diagnostic aids in the scope of troubleshooting, repair, and fabrication work.Familiar with mechanical hand tools, and with measuring (tape measures, micrometers, drill gauges, etc.).PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Routine lifting of parts weighing 40 - 50 lbs.Occasional lifting of parts weighing up to 100 lbs.Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, working overhead, beside, and underneath equipment or in racking.Work on ladders, elevated platforms, and in confined spaces.May experience a variety of temperature and weather conditions (i.e. outside in Winter and Summer). Works in noisy environments (wearing hearing protection).Temperature extremes vary from work in the freezer (-200 F.) to the roof (1200 F)Must wear protective clothing, such as safety glasses, goggles, welding helmet, ear protection, insulated clothing and gloves, etc.Exposed to dust, exhaust fumes, oil, grease, and other materials associated with the warehouse and related equipment.
