SummaryThe Field Technician position will operate independently
from CTI's main office, traveling to customers' locations for
start-up, calibration, light installation, and/or repair a variety
of gas detection systems. The Field Technician will also be
responsible for training plant personnel on how to use the gas
detection systems and also writing reports for PSM documentation. A
typical work week may include three weeknights in a hotel, with the
remainder of the week working at home if needed.Essential

systems and sensorsTrouble shooting gas detection systems and
sensorsRepairing gas detection systems and sensorsTrouble shooting
120VAC and 24VDC circuits to include wiring, relay logic and PLC
functionsTranslate system operation scope and user functions to
personnelCoordination scope of work and system recommendations with
plant engineers and personnelEnsure full satisfaction of work
performed under unrestricted guidelinesReport WritingWrite/Edit
reports for PSM documentationMust be sufficient in MS Word, MS
Excel and Acrobat PDFQualifications/Required skillsUnderstanding of
electronic circuit fundamentalsFamiliarity with PLCs, relay logic,
and industrial control systemsElectrical/Electronics troubleshoots

and trainees with information needed for reference. Perform proper
maintenance and calibration per the manufacturer's detail. Take
measurements, gain access to all sensor and panel locations.Trouble
Shooting gas detection systems and sensorsUse a DMM and/or other
approved measurement devices to locate
electrical/electronic/component issues. Enact proper methods of
troubleshooting such as substitution and repeatability
observations.Repairing gas detection systems and sensorsDetermine
best long-term method for repair. Translate solutions using CTI
products when possible.Trouble shooting 120VAC and 24VDC circuits
to include wiring, relay logic and PLC functionsUse a DMM and/or
other approved measurement devices to locate
electrical/electronic/component issues. Work with
knowledgeable/qualified/approved plant personnel to safely assist
in gathering needed information and results.Translate system
operation scope and user functions to personnelA field tech must be
able to communicate to plant personnel how a singular sensor and
also an entire gas detection system works and operates. The field
tech must be able to show the plant personnel how to use the
equipment. Once the field tech leaves the plant the plant personnel
should feel comfortable operating the system.Coordination scope of
work and system recommendations with plant engineers and personnelA
field tech must be able write up a recommendation plan for plants
and then be able to explain the plan to plant personnel and tell
them why the recommendations make sense and are needed.Ensure full
satisfaction of work performed under unrestricted guidelinesCTI
always makes sure the customer is satisfied with service performed
and products sold. A field tech must do the same thing when
servicing a plant. The plant personnel must be completely satisfied
with the field techs' work.Report WritingWrite/edit reports for PSM
documentationUtilize computer skills and software to complete
reports. Take and maintain meticulous notes from service visits of
any type. Gather accurate information to detail leak detection
system and associated output functions. Data entry of notes and use
of CTI approved terminology. Meet deadlines.MS Word, MS Excel and
Acrobat PDFIn order for a field tech to write good reports and be
able to gather the information needed to do service jobs they must
be sufficient in Word, Excel and Acrobat PDF.
Requirements:
Qualifications/Required skills Understanding of electronic circuit
fundamentalsAbility to exercise component and personal safety to
maintain, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical
components.Familiarity with PLCs, relay logic, and industrial
control systemsStrong understanding of AC and DC circuitry. Strong
understanding of relay integration methods and functionality.
Understand field components, wire situations/connectivity, and PLC
purpose.Electrical/electronic troubleshoots skills using electronic
equipmentUse a DMM and/or other approved measurement devices to
locate electrical/electronic/component issues. Enact proper methods
of troubleshooting such as substitution and repeatability
observations.Soldering and circuit assembly tasksField replace
surface components, switches, wire connections when
applicable.Strong communication skillsA Field Tech must have good
communication skills. He/she must be able to communicate through
phone, text, email and in person sufficiently. Being able to
communicate with plant personnel and the main office is crucial to
being a successful field tech. Being a remote employee makes these
skills even more important.Ability to work well in industrial
environmentsThis means being able to work in a wide range of

to be comfortable traveling by car and plane nationwide. Most jobs
will be scheduled weeks or even months out but, on some occasions,

use of PC to write reports, communicate, perform job specific
research.Ability to problem solve/gather information needed to
