Description: Registered Nurses serve as members of a
multidisciplinary team that includes a social worker, medical
provider, Activity Specialist, and/or educator.This team is
integral to the successful treatment of the patients served,
providing care in tandem with all members of the team to ensure
high quality of care is being delivered at all times. Provide
clinical supervision and leadership to the Licensed Practical Nurse
and other unlicensed personnel (e.g., Resident Treatment
Technicians and Resident Treatment Workers). Receive and transcribe
physician orders. Report/document changes to the patient's
condition and provide follow-up as needed. Complete initial,
on-going, and annual nursing assessments. Develop individualized
nursing care interventions. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary
team to develop treatment plans that are individualized,
measurable, and attainable. Revise plans based on
assessments/observations. Demonstrate safe medication
administration practices, follow policy/procedure as it relates to
medication administration. Provide nursing care that is
individualized and appropriate for the developmental level and
according to the specific needs of the patient. Assign/delegate
tasks to other nursing personnel as needed. Provide on-going
patient and/or family education (e.g., illness, medication, life
skills, coping mechanisms, recovery, discharge planning, etc.).
Demonstrate effective de-escalation techniques and the ability to
utilize effective crisis communication skills when dealing with
upset patients. Comply with all the principles of Pro-Act and
follow policy/procedure as it relates to application of restraints
and/or use of seclusion. Complete all required documentation as
defined in policies in a clear, concise, and legible manner.
Provide a detailed hand-off communication to the next shift.
Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with
admission/transfer/discharge procedures and management of
emergencies. Effectively communicate necessary information to the
Nurse Supervisor and/or Charge Nurse. Be familiar with and comply
with all hospital policies/procedures. Comply with regulatory
standards. Job Requirements:Maintain valid and current licensure as
either a Registered Nurse (RN), that is in good standing, in the
State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as an RN in
accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator's
Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, that
is in good standing.Must have a minimum 60-day assignment at CMHI
with the maximum of 48 hours per week.Must have current BLS/CPR
certification.Must be able to walk up and down stairs to emergency
code sites or other work sites.Must be able to lift 50 pounds,
bend, stoop, and twist frequently when providing nursing care or
training.Have a COVID vaccination or a qualifying documented
