Medical Director Quality will serve as a leader and change agent to
assist UnityPoint Health St. Lukes in developing a world class
quality program, characterized by care transformation and

the active medical staff. - The Medical Director Quality will
operate in Dyad partnership with VP over PI and Process Excellence
and share in the leadership and direction of these functions. -Why

- Serve as UPHSLs Patient Safety Officer
- Implement Patient Safety Program.
- Engender a culture of safety.
- Oversee investigations of patient safety.
- Co-Chair UPHSL Clinical Leadership Group/Quality and Safety
Committee
- Identify areas for opportunity and ensure ongoing review (or
oversight) of clinical quality and patient safety and performance
improvement activities.
- Oversee hospitals Quality Management System (ISO)
- Educate Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Medical Executive
Committee (MEC) regarding QMS and their role.
- Present actionable information to the SLT and MEC related to
the QMS on a routine schedule.
- Accreditation/DNV
- Identify risks and opportunities.
- Act as a change agent to improve the performance of the medical
staff.
- Serve as a bridge between the hospital and medical staff
quality initiatives.
- Ensure the function of Utilization Management, PTN, Infection
Control and Prevention, tissue and transfusion review, medical
record review.
- Support medical staff peer review process.
- Implement physician Education and Engagement strategies.
- .PI Department/Clinical Analytics
- Provide Oversight with VP Dyad over quality.
- Prioritization of PI and Clinical Analytics work to support the
CLG, medical staff and other department needs.
- Integrate of nursing quality (Magnet) into organization
quality.
- Provide guidance to prioritize Process Excellence
activities.
- Serve on System Committees as requested.
- Serve as staff to the board Process Improvement Committee.Basic

- Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of

- Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with
regular, reliable attendance.
- Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications
required for the position.
- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and
other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements
within the calendar year.
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance
requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g.
Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any
questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate
attention of hospital administrative staff. - Takes appropriate
action on concerns reported by department staff related to
compliance.QualificationsEducation: - - -Medical Doctorate or
Doctor of Ostepathic Degree -Experience: - - - -Minimum of two
years as a practicing physician.Previous experience as a Medical
Director.License(s)/Certification(s): - - - -Licensed in the state
of IowaBoard certifiedMeet qualifications to be a member of active
Medical Staff; refer to Medical Staff credentialing & privileging
guidelinesValid drivers license when driving any vehicle for
