Job Description:

Under the direction of the Administrator:

• Plans for and directs the nursing care, treatments, procedures, and other health-related services to meet resident needs and personal preferences
• Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and current nursing standards of practice
• Assists with the supervision, development, and implementation of a written healthcare plan in cooperation with other disciplines and in accordance with physician orders
• Supervises / reviews preventative and restorative nursing care for each resident in order to achieve and maintain the highest possible degree of function, self-care, and independence
• Oversees the recruitment, hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluation of nursing department employees to ensure adequate numbers of qualified staff members are on duty at all times
• Ensures that adequate quantities of [in good repair] nursing equipment and needed supplies are readily available to nursing staff members
• Oversees medical records in compliance with licensing, HIPAA ,and professional standards
• In conjunction with the Administrator, oversees admission and discharge reviews and decisionsQualifications:
  • Must have an unrestricted and active Iowa (or compact state) RN license
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience, preferably in Geriatric Nursing, along with management experience in leading a healthcare team desirable
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills specific to the English language
