Position Overview: The Scaffold and Insulation laborer will install, repair, and/or remove insulation on piping, ductwork, industrial equipment, and other surfaces. They will also fabricate and install removable insulation blankets. The Insulation laborer will work with a sheet metal worker who will help select the type and size or insulation and related materials to be used according to project requirements. They will also be required to assemble and dismantle tubular and system scaffolding or other temporary structures, installing ladders, walkways and handrails at sites using a variety of tools and lifts. They are responsible for cleaning and preparing sites, including removing debris and loading/unloading scaffolding material. Responsibilities and Duties: Installs and replaces scaffolding and insulation in buildings and mechanical systems. Clears and disposes of old insulation according to established safety guidelines. Loads and unloads insulation materials. Measures and cut insulation to fit round pipes and equipment. Fastens insulation in place with tape, screws, wire, or banding, as needed. Employees are expected to bring necessary tools to jobsite. Will be trained on how to cut, bend, and shape sheet metal to required dimensions. Actively champions a positive workplace and safety culture. Performs various other duties and functions as required or assigned. Qualifications: Education and Experience Basic verbal and written communication skills. Basic interpersonal and customer service skills. Basic organizational skills and attention to detail. Working understanding of safety principles, practices, and procedures. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Personal Characteristics Follows directions of manager / lead / superintendent and clarifies responsibilities if needed. Ability to work independently. Physical Abilities Ability to lift, push, pull and move up to 75 lbs. on a routine basis. Ability to climb Ladders and stairways regularly throughout the work shift. Ability to observe conditions and others as safety attendant staying alert while seated for long periods of time as needed. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and other tools and equipment in a safe and controlled manner. Ability to perform inspections of site, tools, and equipment. Ability to perform behavioral observations focused on safety and process improvement. Ability to follow safety protocol and to report any incident, unsafe act, or unsafe condition immediately to the site supervisor and safety manager.
