Located out of our Norfolk District Office, you will gain
experiences while working on diverse design projects all while

public.
We are seeking a talented, energetic, and dedicated person who
either has a bachelor's degree in engineering, or who is a Licensed
Professional Civil Engineer.

Applicants with a bachelor's degree in engineering will be hired at
the Engineer level - $26.067 Licensed Professional Civil Engineer
applicants will be hired at the Professional Engineer I level -
$29.716

Examples of Work
Under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer, you will
be designing a variety of roadway construction projects for our
highway system. Some of the tasks will include:
--- Design various roadway features including horizontal alignment,
vertical alignment, cross-sections, earthwork, guardrail, and other
features.
--- Design erosion control features and implementation of
environmental processes.
--- Perform hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and design culverts/storm
sewers.
--- Draft roadway plan sheets.
--- Perform background research, quantity and cost estimate
calculations, and analysis of project-specific tasks.
--- Prepare for and participate in project-related meetings and
field inspections.
--- Prepare project-related documents and reports.
--- Participate in miscellaneous design and inspection
opportunities in Northeast Nebraska.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
Engineer: Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline. This
position requires passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
within one year of employment.
Professional Engineer I: Bachelor's degree in an engineering
discipline. Must possess a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license at
the time of application and be licensed by the Nebraska Board of
Engineers and Architects at time of employment or be able to obtain
such license within 90 days of employment. Must sit for PE at first
opportunity.
PREFERRED: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Successful
completion of FE examination. Experience in roadway design and/or
highway construction. Experience communicating technical
information and instructions to diverse groups including internal
and external teammates at all levels
OTHER: Engineering degrees must be from an EAC/ABET-accredited
program (or evaluated by NCEES as equivalent). Occasional
out-of-town travel and extended working hours. Valid driver's
License. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
--- Basic engineering principles related to the design and
construction of highway projects including engineering, surveying,
hydrology, design standards, and geometrics
--- Organizational, public relations, and quality verbal and
written communication skills
