Responsible for supervision of maintenance activities within of a
highly automated food processing facility; responsible for the
Process and Packaging areas of the plant. Will hire, train, and
oversee workers engaged in setting up, installing and maintaining
machinery and equipment and in fabrication of parts. Determine
maintenance procedures in accordance with company operating
policies and procedures. Maximize efficiency of the machines in the
production area. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental
sanitation, and applicable requirements. Essential duties and
responsibilities: · Develop and organize preventive maintenance and
safety inspection programs for all facilities and equipment. ·
Review and rationalize PM procedures, evaluate, and optimize
maintenance routines. · Establish schedules and methods for
providing facility maintenance services; identify resource needs. ·
Monitor and control supplies and equipment, order supplies and
tools as necessary. · Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in
machinery and equipment based on observation of machinery and
applying knowledge from experience. · Make recommendations for
changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and
procedures. · Assist manager in budget recommendations; monitor
expenditures; prepare cost estimates; submit justifications for
equipment; monitor budget expenditures as needed. · Monitor
maintenance work activities to ensure compliance with established
policies and procedures, and timeliness of work to be completed. ·
Oversee and coordinate with contractors in providing contract
services. · Maintain the inventory of tools and common-use
equipment. · Review staffing needs with appropriate supervision of
staff; allocate resources accordingly. · Ensure that plant safety
rules are being followed and respected by direct-report employees
and other plant employees. · Conduct departmental safety meetings,
participate actively in safety improvements, set an example for
safety leadership and excellence. · Identify shutdown projects,
plan, and allocate resources, supervise execution of work, and
follow up with documentation and integration of equipment into
established procedures. · Train and coach employees on maintenance
techniques and procedures. Provide training that covers equipment,
techniques, and procedures. · Oversee and supervise backlog of work
orders through effective use of CMMS system. · Evaluate employee
performance to ensure quality and compliance with the Operations
and Quality Department’s standards. · Assist employees with related
administrative and human resources issues.(performance reviews,
discipline, hiring, terminations) · Maintain time and attendance
records and other necessary documentation. · Investigate accidents
and near-miss events, prepare follow-up reports. · Follows all Good
Manufacturing Practices as stated within the policy. · Follows all
Safety rules & procedures by working safely and ensuring safety of
others. · Follows all food safety procedures. · Follows all
environmental protocols as applicable. · Follows all sanitation
procedures and work instructions. · Performs other miscellaneous
duties as assigned. Qualifications and Competencies: · AS/AA or
BS/BA degree in Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance or similar
technical course of study preferred. · 5-10 years’ experience in
plant maintenance with emphasis on automated packaging equipment
systems, or similar related experience. Experience in a food
processing environment a plus. · Experience in the supervision of
Maintenance Technicians and supervision of contractor employees. ·
Must be familiar with materials, methods, terminology, equipment,
and tools used in the maintenance of industrial equipment. ·
Ability to assist manager in basic principles and practices of
budget preparation and administration as needed. · Equipment,
tools, and materials used in the maintenance of automated
machinery. · Construction and project management principles. ·
Principles and practices of safety management. · Office procedures,
methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software
applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
· Familiar with pertinent local, state, and federal laws,
ordinances, codes, and rules. · Read and understand construction
drawings, plans and specifications. · Organize, implement, and
direct maintenance operations and activities. · Supervise, train,
and evaluate assigned staff. · Interpret and explain pertinent
department policies and procedures. · Develop cost estimates for
supplies and equipment. · Demonstrate tact and diplomacy with
fellow employees and the public. · Establish and maintain effective
working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. ·
Experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; AutoCAD and Rockwell
Automation software. SAP experience a plus. · Requires good written
and oral communication skills to effectively interact with all
levels of plant employees. Physical Demands: The physical demands

The employee is regularly required to walk. The employee is

or balance, and/or talk or hear, or reach above shoulders. The
employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and must
occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while performing
electrical repairs and changing-out motors and pumps. Specific
vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance
vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the
ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: The work environment
characteristics described here are representative of those an
employee encounters while performing the essential functions of
this job. Work will be performed in both an office environment and
out in the processing facility. The employee will frequently work
near moving mechanical parts, in proximity to the risk of electric
shock, and occasionally in outdoor weather conditions. The noise
level in the work environment is usually loud and may, at times, be
very loud. Hours of work will be during regular business hours with
at least 40 working hours per week. At times there will be some
variation in the work schedules involving weekend or non-standard
hours depending on supervisor coverage needs and situations such as
plant shutdowns and other maintenance or project events. Protective
Equipment: Employees must wear personal protective equipment
including safety glasses, protective gloves, face shields, rubber
boots, and ear protection and other PPE as required. Performance

thoroughness of work performed; ability to gain the trust and
respect of management, coworker and brokers; maintain the integrity
of confidential business and product information; ability to
communicate effectively and develop good working relationships with
other employees is essential to accomplish goals and objective of
the department. Relationships: Will have a strong working
relationship with other area Maintenance Supervisors and
Technicians, Storeroom/CMMS Supervisor, Quality Department
Employees, Plant Operations Managers and Supervisors and occasional
interaction with plant operators
