of prior experience required in a large, urban hospital. License:
Active state RN license required. Certifications: BLS required;
ACLS and CPI preferred. Must-Have: - Experience in drips required
on all floors. - EPIC charting experience required. - Must be
comfortable taking care of behavioral health patient population. -
Previous behavioral health experience in an acute care hospital
preferred. Description: This position offers a 36 or 48-hour work
week option. Travelers are first to float, and RNs must be prepared
to float frequently to meet staffing needs. Floating may include
various units within the facility. The unit is a 20-bed medical
surgical and telemetry unit that also cares for orthopedic
patients. Patients include those with total knee and hip
replacements, complicated orthopedic cases, pulmonary issues,
sepsis, GI, endocrine, cardiac, renal, and psychiatric illnesses.
The unit is split across floors, with the 7th floor dedicated to
medical surgical patients with underlying behavioral health
conditions. This secured floor may have patients flagged as
violent, requiring safety and de-escalation training for travelers.
Ratios are typically 1:5 days and 1:6 nights. However, during
staffing shortages, night ratios can reach 1:7, but this is rare.
Weekend shifts consist of 4 out of 8 possible shifts in a 4-week
period, with required days being Saturday and Sunday. Travelers
must work 2 out of 3 major holidays as part of the requirement. A
complete understanding of the needs of the unit and compliance to
facility policies is essential. Travelers are expected to attend a
charting class mandatory for orientation week. This facility is
